FYI: Mt. Tabor High School Celebrates 50 Years With Parade and Other Events

Mt. Tabor High School celebrates its 50th year with a variety of activities and events Thursday through Saturday.

The festivities begin Thursday night when the Spartan Hall of Fame will induct seven new Hall of Fame members at 6 PM in the cafeteria of Mount Tabor High School. John Furches, Baxter Holman, Jr., William Vaughn Moore, Derek Nicholson, Rick Page, Virginia Pate, and Col. Max Reed will be inducted at the event.

The 50th Anniversary Homecoming Parade will be on September 30th at 2:15 PM and will feature alumni groups and current student groups on floats and marching behind banners. This event will close down a portion of Petree Road. Students will be both participating in and watching the parade, so attendees are encouraged to come early in order to find a location from which the parade may be viewed.

The 50th Anniversary Homecoming Food Truck Tailgate will be at the front of the school on September 30th from 5-7:30 PM. In addition to the Food Trucks, you can listen to the GB’s play live music from the 60’s when Tabor was established.

Cheer on the Varsity Football team as they take on North Davidson at 7:30 PM on September 30th.  Admission will be $6 per person. Come see the official presentation of the Spartan Hall of Fame at 7:20 PM, the crowning of this year’s Homecoming Queen, and be ready for the biggest H2O in Tabor history!

The 50th Anniversary Golf Tournament will be at the Winston Lake Golf Course on October 1st, with registration beginning at 8 AM and a shotgun start at 9 AM.
