Man Shot on Hartford Street, Police Seeking Suspects

The following information was provided by the Winston-Salem Police Department and is public record.

On December 13, 2016 at 8:35 p.m., officers with the WSPD responded to 3862 Hartford Street in reference to a Shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Davoris Howie lying on the ground outside of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his lower extremity. Mr. Howie was transported to Baptist Hospital where he is currently being treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Howie had just arrived at the residence with a second male subject when they were both approached by two black males who appeared from the wood line. The two suspects brandished handguns, at which point, Mr. Howie fired at the suspects. The suspects returned fire and then fled the scene.

It was later determined that one of the suspects suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and is currently being treated at Baptist Hospital for a serious but non-life threatening injury.

The investigation is in its early stages; however, it does not appear that this incident was a random act. The police are seeking information on the two suspects who were described as black males in their early 20s wearing dark clothing and some sort of mask concealing their faces

This remains an active criminal investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Winston-Salem Police Department at (336)773-7700 or CrimeStoppers at (336)727-2800.
