Police Release Video, Need Help Identifying Suspect in Assault of Vinnie Mannino

The following information was provided by the WSPD; video enhancements by Chad Nance

As previously reported, at approximately 4:10 a.m. on November 15, 2016, a badly beaten and incoherent adult male was located near 770 Liberty View Court. The male was subsequently identified as thirty-nine year old Vincent “Vinnie” George Mannino.

Mr. Mannino was transported to Baptist Medical Center where he has remained hospitalized since this incident occurred. The investigation into the beating of Mr. Mannino has remained active by authorities with the Winston-Salem Police Department. During that investigation, authorities have determined that Mr. Mannino was in the downtown area playing the “location-based augmented reality game Pokémon Go.” Authorities have also determined that personal property belonging to the victim was found to be missing following the assault.

Video surveillance footage taken in the 700 block of Liberty Street at approximately 12:40 a.m. on the morning in question is viewable below. In the surveillance video  the victim can be seen walking with his cellphone in his hand, presumably playing the aforementioned game. Directly behind the victim, a male can be seen walking in the same direction as the victim. The second male appears to visually scan the area for onlookers before following the victim out of camera view. The victim was located very near the area where this surveillance video footage was gathered.

Authorities are attempting to identify the second male captured in the video surveillance footage. Authorities ask that anyone with information regarding the identity of this male contact the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-773-7700 or CrimeStoppers at 336-727-2800.
