Camel City Dispatch has learned that the School Board Building & Grounds Committee Meeting on September 11th 2012 at 4:30pm will include a review of the proposed RJ Reynolds stadium plan. Save Hanes Park, an activist group opposed to the new stadium, has sent a call out to their members and those concerned to be at the Education Building at 4801 Bethania Station Road in the Main Auditorium in order to show the committee their concern even though no one will be allowed to speak.
Save Hanes Park is also stressing that the regularly scheduled School Board meeting at 6pm will provide opponents and supporters of the proposed stadium an opportunity to speak. Anti-stadium activist pointed out that at the August 9th meeting of the City/County Planning Board stadium supporters filled RJ Reynolds school activity buses with students in an attempt, they claim, to fill up the chambers so that those who are opposed to the project could not speak or show their opposition.
