Stay Tuned: Eugene’s Guide to TV for November 22-28

by Eugene Sims

The holidays are finally upon this week and that means two things… Not too many television programs will premiere in the coming month and Stratford Road will become an unbearable drive until after the New Year.

But thank goodness for streaming sites like Netflix! They keep on releasing new programs that keep shut-in wannabes like me at home.

One of my favorites from the 2000s is coming back for an update/revisit and I couldn’t be happier.

I’m talking about the ‘Gilmore Girls’.

The ‘Gilmore Girls’ was a drama for everyone. You had the drama that women crave and for the men there were oodles of random pop culture references. The weirdos that populated the fictional town of Stars Hollow gave us all a good dose of comedy. And let’s not forget Lauren Graham in tight pants.

Okay, maybe that last one was just me typing out loud.

The ‘Gilmore Girls’ always reminded me of ‘Northern Exposure’ with just a little less quirk.

It’s not much, but here’s your week of new television programming available.

Friday, November 25

As I mentioned above, the ‘Girlmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ arrives on Netflix any time you want to watch one episode or binge them all during the weekend. It’s your choice. There will be four episodes lasting 90 minutes each. So fire up that K-Cup coffee machine!

Netflix will also have its first original Brazilian series. It’s a thriller about the class divide where the rich live on their own island while everyone else has to survive in their slums. It’s entitled ‘3%’ and it’s ready when you are on Netflix.
And that’s all that I have for you this week. There are plenty of new reality shows, but why bother. They’re not worth your time if you’re never going to watch them more than once.

Here are a few suggestions from the past year to search out in case you have a “show hole” to fill when things get quiet during the long holiday weekend.

AMC’s ‘Preacher’

FX’s ‘Atlanta’

FOX ‘The Exorcist’
