Winston-Salem’s Stitch Design Shop have announced that they have been granted four awards at the recent 2015 American Institute of Architects Winston-Salem Section Design Awards which recognizes the best in architectural design throughout the eleven county territory of the AIA Winston-Salem Section.

Of the 30 project submissions received, seven design awards were granted in three categories: One“Honor Award”; two “Merit Award”; and three “Honorable Mention” or “Citation.”

The ever-innovative Stitch Design Shop received the ARTivity on the Green “Honor Award,” for the Bailey Park Amphitheatre and Comfort Station. They won the “Merit Award,” for their design Campion Art Studio and the “Citation Award” for the The Boom Observation Pier at Quarry Park.

“We take great pride in our work and it is extremely gratifying to have it recognized by a national jury,” said Pete Fala partner of Stitch Design Shop.

The biennial Design Awards is open to all AIA members who are based in or have completed building projects within the eleven county territory of the Winston-Salem Section. These counties include: Alexander; Alleghany; Ashe; Caldwell; David; Forsyth; Stokes; Surry; Watauga; Wilkes; and Yadkin.

Five nationally prominent architects were assembled by the AIA Winston-Salem Section to blindly review this year’s diverse range of project submissions. The jurors determined both the final project award categories and design award designations.

“AIA design award programs, in the Winston-Salem section and beyond, represent far more than an opportunity for professional recognition, said Jason Miller, president of the AIA Winston-Salem Section. “The awards demonstrate a commitment to good people doing good work and adding depth, richness, and value to their communities.”
