Summit School Honored at International Education Conference

This year leaders from Summit School had the honor of presenting at Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero international education conference in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Dr. Kristin Bennett, Summit’s director of the center for excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, and Julie Smith, director of the lower school at Summit, spoke at the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education joint conference with Harvard University.

Their talk, entitled “0-60 in One School Year: When Change has Legs” was chosen after a highly selective peer-review process. Summit School has been engaged with Harvard’s Project Zero program for the last two years and is viewed internationally as a leader in the implementation of the project’s research based strategies.

“Summit School teachers and administrators have developed increasingly strong relationships with Project Zero researchers during the past two years through attendance at conferences and workshops at Harvard University,” Dr. Bennett said. “Project Zero researchers also have been to Summit’s campus to lead faculty professional development and have been partners in developing strategic professional development initiatives. This close relationship and the visible impact of Project Zero on Summit’s teachers and students led to us being asked to submit a presentation proposal.”

Founded in 1967 and recognized as world leader in educational research, Project Zero, in conjunction with the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education, brings internationally-renowned researchers to a conference co-hosted by the International School of Amsterdam.
