The Winston-Salem Urban League is partnering with FedEx to present a Hiring Event Thursday, June 16th from 10:00am to 2pm at the Urban League downtown location 201 W. Fifth Street.

FedEx Human Resource Managers seeking to fill positions for package handlers will be on hand to screen applicants. The part-time positions pay $10.50 to start and offer benefits including college tuition.

Job seekers who are interested in a fast-paced job with career advancement opportunities should consider joining the FedEx team as a package handler.

Package Handlers at FedEx are eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits as well as vacation and holiday pay, after completion of an eligibility period. FedEx employees may also participate in the company’s tuition assistance program. They are eligible for pay increases within the first six months of employment and career advancement opportunities in their “promote from within” environment.

Package Handlers are responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing, in a safe and efficient manner.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. All interested individuals must attend a sort observation at one of FedEx facilities prior to applying for the part-time package handler position.

James Perry, Urban League President and CEO says “the FedEx Hiring Event is one of the many opportunities we provide for job seekers to meet employers who are hiring. It is also a service to the employer by assisting them in meeting their staffing needs”.
