Zach Galifianakis & Louis CK to Create FX Comedy Series

By Staff

Zach Galifianakis is a movie star and cult comedian with strong local ties. He grew up in Wilkes County (his uncle Nick Galifianakis was the US Representative for the 5th District from 1967 to 1973 and Zach has publicly commented regarding his distaste for current 5th District Rep Virginia Foxx) and he attended undergrad at NC State. The FX network has just announced that a new series is already in the works under the Louis C.K.’s new production deal and C.K. is creating the show with Galifianakis, who is set to star. This is the second FX show in recent memory with a local hook. The new FX adult animated series, Chozen, is executive produced by UNCSA alum Jody Hill, David Gordon Green, and Danny McBride.

FX doesn’t provide any other details about the new C.K/Galifianakis show apart from a list of producers, all of whom have worked with either C.K. or Galifianakis before.   In 2012 Glaifianakas filmed You are Here in Winston-Salem for Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner.

Chozen premiered Monday night on FX and will continue to air at 10:30pm on Mondays.
